Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is a hindu festival celebrated in India every year. I am going to share the story behind why we eat tilkut on Makar Sankranti. There lived a saint named Saint Jilaani. He was not a saint always . When he and his family lived together, he was a courtier in King Harishchandra's court. He had two children one's name was Dharam and the other's name was Raghu. When they grew up the fought all the time. They wanted the property to be divided. Jilaani was very sad to hear this news. He divided the property but he was not happy at all. So, he went to live in forests and became a saint. Everything was going wright but suddenly one day Saint Jilaani heard the news that his house caught fire and his sons are inside the house. He ran to save his sons but till the time he reached the house everything was burned even his sons. The only thing which was not burned was one single piece of tilkut and all these things happened on the day of Makar Sankranti. That is why we all eat tilkut on the day of Makar Sankranti.
Thank you.
