Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple in the town of Trimbak, in the Trimbakeshwar tehsil in the Nashik District of Maharashtra, India, 28 km from the city of Nashik and 40 km from Nashik road When was the temple made?
Trimbakeshwar Temple is located in the town of Trimbak in Nashik District of Maharashtra, India. It is the center of twelve Jyotirlingaas of Lord Shiva. This holy temple is built by Shri Peshwa Nanasaheb between 1755 to 1786 AD. It is also known as black stone temple as it is built out of pure basalt (volcano lava).
When we were doing the pooja we saw a man standing on one leg the pandit said that they will only stay on one leg for 12 years and they sleep standing it has only been 6 years and there where 6 left.
Who invented the temple?
Maharashtra near the mountain named Brahamagiri from which the river Godavari flows. It was constructed by third Peshwa Balaji Bajirao (1740-1760) on the site of an old temple.
What is special in Trimbakeshwar?
Trimbakeshwar is a religious center having one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is its three faces embodying Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Rudra. Due to the excessive use of water, the linga has started to erode.
